Privacy Policy for Device Fence
Effective Date: April 19, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Device Fence. Device Fence is an Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) and Mobile Device Management (MDM) application designed to help organizations manage, secure, and monitor their corporate-owned or managed mobile devices.
This Privacy Policy explains how Device Fence collects, uses, and protects information from devices that have the Device Fence application installed.
2. Information We Collect
As an MDM solution, Device Fence collects several types of information to provide its core management and security features.
A. Device Identifiers & Information
We collect technical information to identify and manage the device, including:
- Device Identifiers: IMEI, Serial Number, Android ID, and MAC address.
- Device Status: Battery level, storage capacity, memory usage, and OS version.
- Network Information: WiFi SSID, network signal strength, IP address, and cellular carrier details.
B. Location Data (Background Tracking)
Device Fence collects location data to enable device tracking, geofencing, and "Find My Device" features even when the app is closed or not in use. This information is critical for organizational security and asset tracking.
- Real-time Location: GPS coordinates (Latitude/Longitude).
- Geofencing: Detection of when a device enters or leaves a predefined geographical area.
C. App Inventory & Usage Stats
To enforce organizational policies and monitor security, we collect:
- Installed Applications: A list of all applications installed on the device (
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES). - App Usage Statistics: Information about which applications are being used and for how long.
D. Communication Data (SOS & Call Barring)
- Contacts: We access your contacts to enable the SOS feature, which allows you to send emergency alerts to predefined contacts.
- Call Logs/Blocking: If enabled by your administrator, the app may monitor or block specific incoming/outgoing calls based on organizational policy.
E. Storage Access
The app requires access to device storage to store system logs, manage files, and perform remote updates or data wipes as instructed by your administrator.
3. How We Use the Information
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
- Device Management: Allowing administrators to remotely configure settings and enforce security policies.
- Security & Asset Tracking: Locating lost or stolen devices and ensuring devices remain within authorized areas.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensuring that only authorized applications are used and that the device is compliant with corporate policies.
- Emergency Services: Facilitating the SOS feature for user safety.
- Remote Actions: Enabling administrators to remotely lock, wipe, or ring the device (Find My Device).
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. The information collected by Device Fence is shared with:
- Your Organization's Administrators: The primary recipients of the data who manage your device through our MDM dashboard.
- Service Providers: Third-party services like Firebase (for notifications and crash reporting) that help us operate the service.
5. Permissions & Sensitive Data
The app requires the following high-privilege permissions to function as an MDM tool:
- Device Administrator: To prevent unauthorized uninstallation and perform remote wipes.
- Background Location: To track the device for security purposes.
- Usage Stats: To monitor application compliance.
- All Files Access: For remote file management.
6. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as your device is enrolled in the Device Fence management service or as required by your organization's data retention policies.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the data collected. However, as this is a management tool, the security of the data is also dependent on your organization's administrative practices.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
